We know that the Republican legislature decided the primary date in Florida. The voters and Democrats did not choose the date but are being punished for it. Remember the lessons from 2000.|||No, it was to move all Floridians of both parties to a level of influence just a little closer to that of Iowa corn farmers.|||THAT'S WHY ALL THE VOTES SHOULD COUNT...
and that's why Hillary is winning the popular vote, winning the most primaries, winning the most pledged delegates from primaries, and is a more electable candidate. Obama has no real argument for the Superdelegates, other than current pledged delegates including caucases--a very weak argument.|||there's nothing to be learned from the 2000 elections, sorry to disappoint. Republicans are not sneeky like that, so you may drop your insensibilites.....|||The Democratic Party picks the dates for the Democratic primaries. You should learn to take the responsibility for you own actions.|||Yes, the Rep's knew that it would cause problems. Just look what has happen in Fl in the past eight years. The Governor told the Dem's they couldn't re-vote by mail. But I think after this election there's not going to be to many Rep's in office.|||I knew it! Someone thinks they have found a way to blame Republicans for the sad state of the demorcratic party.
Democrats chose when to hold the Democratic primary in Florida. Just like it was a DEMOCRAT that created the ballot that the democrats could not seem to figure out in 2000.|||what are you talking about? how does a timeframe create problems for the Democratic Primaries?|||Nothing happened in 2000. TWO recounts said bush won and also the supreme court agreed with it. A 6 month study by CNN, NY times, and the Washington post all verified that bush won so tell the liberals to quit complaining.
How are the democrats being punished for what the republicans did? The democrats are the ones who messed up the whole voting thing for Florida and Michigan.|||The state level DNC in Florida and Michigan are the ones who decided to move their primary dates. This is not controlled by the state government, but the state level entity of that political party.
The lesson from 2000 that was proven over and over, recount by recount, was that Al Gore lost, every time they recounted the votes. What we learned though, is that if you're a liberal and you don't get the result you want, then sue someone.
Quit Whining!!!|||BUT OF COURSE... THOSE FLORIDA REPUBLICANS HAVE GOT TO BE THE DUMBEST BUNCH ON THE PLANET.. EVERY ELECTION THEY HAVE TROUBLE.. WHAT IN HELL IS THE MATTER WITH THEM ANYWAY.
How is it that the Republicans making this mistake makes the democrats pay for it. The DNC is just about as dumb for falling for the whole thing. No wonder.... look who is in charge of the DNC!|||The opened up a new front on the war. Now states with a dem held power base will want to move their primaries to date that will be incongruent to GOP primary strategy tit for tat and the American people are going to pay for it.
Thank you GOP for showing that your party comes before the country. I cant wait till all the Mexicans become citizens and erase your party. I don't even much care for the DNC but they are the ones that gave us the 40 hour work week, clean water, air and food the GOP fought them every step of the way.|||No. Florida just wanted to cut in line. If you recall, the Republican primary was just as contested back then. What other benefit was there except exposure and foolishness? Back in January, Hillary was the annointed nominee, just waiting for voter rubber-stamping. But the rubber-stamp fizzled.|||yes, they looked into their crystal ball and knew the Democratic Primary would be close enough for this to be an issue but the Republican nominee would already be sewn up. Guess they are just too smart for the Dems to contend with.
Actually, it was a Democrat who moved it. No worries though, the Dems have already said that he was "fooled" into it by Republicans. Again, give up now, they are just too smart for you guys.|||When a representative is elected he represents everyone in his district. Not just the people in his own party. Ergo, if the Florida Legislature makes a decision, Florida makes that decision. This is a representative republic not a true democracy.
In Michigan the Democrats run the legislature and decided to do the same thing. Is that why you only mentioned Florida?
*|||Florida HB537
yeas 115 nays 1
Republican Party 77
Democratic Party 43
damn republicans forced all but 1 democrat representative to vote for the bill. Even though 4 republicans were on vacation during the vote..... ?
Sorry my mistake the nay vote was from a republican.
