Is it legal for plantiff to change the violation code to a traffic ticket after scheduling court date?

I scheduled a court date for a traffic violation via online. Around 3 weeks later, I recieved a letter from the court stating that the cop have changed the violation code. Is this allowed?|||No, this is a serious crime! Just call Pat Sajak, and your ticket will be dismissed and you will be awarded $1 million.

The law is designed not to help policeman's schedules so they can testify, but to allow violators to get off scot free on technicalities. Don't you know THAT?|||Yes it is allowed.|||Yep!|||Yes, it is allowed and it is actually fairly common. Make sure you get a copy of both though - just in case you have to impeach the officer.|||First, the cops didn't change it. The prosecutor sought leave to change it and the court granted that motion. Yes it is legal, so long as you get enough notice to prepare your defense. Many criminal complaints will be amended multiple times before trial as investigations continue.
